The Stir | Gin & Ginger
It's fair to say ginger beer has had a renaissance over the past few years. Drinks like the Dark & Stormy and Whiskey Ginger have found their way from bars to backyards, brunch and everywhere in between. The hearty spice and carbonation of an authentic ginger beer tames even the strongest of spirits, making it a favorite among the modern cocktail crowd. When you decide to try it for yourself, theres only one place to start—Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer.
While many ginger beers use artificial "ginger flavoring," Crabbie's isn't one of them. Instead, it blends ginger that's been cold-steeped for up to six weeks with four secret ingredients. While the Original and Spiced Orange flavors are great, my favorite is the Scottish Raspberry. Not too sweet, its got just the right amount of tangy raspberry, and the bright red color makes it all the more refreshing.
The Gin & Ginger is a recipe built on simplicity. With only three ingredients - ginger beer, gin and lime - it's designed to be super easy to make and let the flavors speak for themselves. Here's how it's done.
Fill a highball glass with ice.
Pour in 2oz Farmer's Gin.
Fill the rest of the glass with Crabbie's Scottish Raspberry Ginger Beer.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
