Styling the Shirt Jacket

Shirt jackets have been on the rise in the menswear space of late, and this nubuck leather version from Polo Ralph Lauren is one of my favorite interpretations. The appeal to me is that it maintains the aesthetic properties of a traditional leather jacket without the weight or stiffness, making it much more comfortable to wear throughout the day.
One of the best ways to wear it is over casual tailoring, namely heavy fabrics that can handle the frigid Northeast temps; flannel and cashmere are two winter staples. This flannel trouser and cashmere turtleneck pairing from Proper Cloth offers cold weather functionality while maintaining an elevated, well-tailored silhouette, and the neutral greys naturally complement the leather earth tones of the jacket and boots.
As far as accessories go, I like to keep things simple, but a watch is a must. I tend to gravitate toward classic designs, especially when I’m in the countryside, and the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Auto never fails.
