Outlining the winding roads and red-tinted farmland of Mallorca’s southern region is the reason you’ve traveled all this way—the coves. Jagged and soaring, majestic and mesmerizing, las calas de Mallorca are some of the most beautiful coastal enclaves in the world. Cala S’Almunia was undoubtedly my favorite cove to visit. Not the most relaxing or luxurious cala experience in the region by any means (its a two mile hike to get here and there are no food or drink stands in the area), it was the most enjoyable. A jutting crescent of cliffs surrounding a glistening turquoise pool of crystal clear water provides the perfect opportunity to try your hand at small-scale European cliff diving. Bring a towel and lay claim to your patch of rock for the day amongst the locals, and make sure to pack lunch and libations in your beach bag.
