Upstate Serenity at Lake George

The longer I live in New York City, the more I enjoy my time away from it. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate the relentless energy the city offers, but I’ve learned that finding time away from the freneticism is necessary both creatively and mentally. While I often find refuge in the Catskills, a bit further north on Route 87 lies one of New York State’s most serene areas: the Adirondacks.
While I’ve only spent a weekend at Lake George thus far, I was impressed by both its size and seclusion. Much less built up than many of the lakes closer to New York City, Lake George still captures the spirit of simpler times, when a canoe and a fishing rod or a couple of tennis racquets, and good company, were all the entertainment one needed to enjoy a summer day.
